Bumble Hookup App

Dating is a complicated world of confusion, excitement, unfamiliarity, and intrigue. Dating can be frustrating, but let’s be honest, most of us are at least passively drawn to it. What’s out there for each of us? Who will we meet? Is this the one? Are they going to change my life or just be a really good time? Dating has only somehow become more interesting with the introduction of dating apps. There are so many to choose from now, and while each app seems to have its different angle, it’s still hard to figure out which app is for which purpose.

Bumble was first founded to challenge the antiquated rules of dating. Now, Bumble empowers users to connect with confidence whether dating, networking, or meeting friends online. We’ve made it not only necessary but acceptable for women to make the first move, shaking up outdated gender norms. May 15, 2021 Bumble has done a great job conveying that it is a feminist dating app and puts women in control. By allowing women to dictate who can message them, it seems to offer a very welcomed approach to dating apps where women have been known to get bombarded by unwanted messages and photos on other sites and apps. Sure, there are dating apps aimed at specific people. For instance, Maple Match is a dating app specific to Americans who want to marry Canadians. (For a variety of reasons.) If you’re looking for it, you can find it. There is still a stigma around some dating apps, even if they have been around for long enough to disprove their specificity. Most of us have heard that Tinder is an app just for hookups. Regardless of whether or not it started out that way, intentionally or not, it’s clear that Tinder is no longer just an app to hook up. There are countless people who have met, fallen in love, married, and started families that met on Tinder. Sure, there are plenty of people who use Tinder and other apps who are just looking to hook up, but that doesn’t mean that it’s only for hookups.

That all being said, what about Bumble? When you say “Bumble,” you probably immediately think of a few things: bumblebees, the color yellow, and the fact that women reach out to men or there will be no conversation. Bumble is well known for letting women take the lead, which is a great. A lot of people have seen great success using Bumble.

But is it for… hookups?

According to Bumble itself, probably not. In a detailed survey released in April of 2018, Bumble stated that its users were looking for, “lasting relationships and empowered connections.” The survey went on to state that 85% of its users are looking for a solid relationship, and even marriage. The people using Bumble also feel very comfortable with its women-first approach. 63% of men use Bumble because the women make the first move and a whopping 97% of women have messaged at least one of their matches in the previous 30 days.

The most telling statistic in the survey Bumble released? How few people are looking to hook up. According to Bumble, only 4% of its users want to just hookup. That’s not to say that people swiping away on Bumble don’t want to hook up at all; it means they want more than just a one night situation.

It seems clear that Bumble doesn’t want to be viewed as a hookup app, which definitely matters as far as branding and marketing goes. The more Bumble declares itself as an app for serious daters, the more people just looking to hook up will probably stay away from it.

That all being said, the way you date is up to you. If someone uses Bumble and just wants to hook up, more power to them. The most important thing to remember is to be clear and open about what you’re looking for. No matter what app you’re on, leading someone on or being disingenuous about what you’re looking for is not a kind or healthy thing to do.

Swipe away on Bumble, even if you’re looking for just a hookup—just be aware that according to the app, 96% of its users may want something just a bit more involved.

Some dating apps are purely aimed at helping people hookup. On the other side of the spectrum, you will find apps that are only useful for those looking for marriage.

Most online dating apps fall somewhere in between, and Bumble is one of them.

If you are looking to use Bumble for hooking up, I would advise against doing so.

This is not to say that you can`t hookup on Bumble on the first date (many people have). However, there many good reasons why a Bumble hookup will not be worth your time. After reading the 5 most important reasons for this below, I believe you will come to the same conclusion.

1. Most Bumble users are thinking long-term

Designwise, Bumble looks like other dating apps that are more commonly used for hooking up. However, the user-base on the app is much more focused on the long-term.

About 5 out of 6 users on Bumble are looking for marriage or a steady relationship.

Singles with long-term goals for using dating apps will very rarely be ready to hook-up on the first or second date. For them, the whole point of online dating is to find a partner who is serious and committed.

A Bumble hookup is thus very unlikely to happen with a person with long-term intentions. Which, unfortunately for you, is the majority of the user-base.

This is not to say that it can`t happen, but you are better of not trying in the first place. Most of the time you will simply be wasting both your time if you do.

2. A minority of users are looking for a Bumble hookup

According to bumble themselves, only 1-4% of it`s user-base are looking for a hook-up with nothing more to it.

That`s right, not only is just 1 out of 6 users not thinking long term; only a handful of that minority is looking for a hookup.

Online dating can be an uphill battle when it comes to finding good matches for us non-models. With the odds already stacked against us, it is important to choose a platform that caters to our goals.

If that goal is hooking-up, the fast-paced swiping of Bumble can seem like a good way to beat the numbers game. Unfortunately, this still requires a certain amount of the user-base to be looking for the same thing as you.

On Bumble, this will not be the case. Thus, you need to spend a lot of time and get really lucky, if your goal is a Bumble hookup.

3. There are more suitable, free alternatives

Online dating is hard enough as it is. The main reason behind starting this blog was so that I could help make it easier for others.

A lot of the hardships people face can be fixed with one simple change: Choose a platform that fits your needs.

There are both free and paid alternatives to Bumble, which will greatly increase your chances of hooking up.

A common misconception about Tinder is that most people use it mainly for hooking up. This is far from the truth.

Only about 5% of Tinder users have hooking-up as their primary motive for joining the app. However, about 2 out of 3 users who have met someone in person have had a hookup of a sexual nature.

52% of people have stated that they believe the Tinder was mainly for hooking up. It thus seems to me that a lot of these casual hookups are a self-fulfilling prophecy.

While there are many problems with Tinder, it by far the best free dating app for hooking up.

It is the largest dating app in the world (by far), there is data to back up that it works for hook-ups and it will be easy to use if you are familiar with Bumble.

4. It`s harder to be straight forward.

Bumble`s unique matching model of giving women first message privileges is the cornerstone of the app`s success.

Having the girl initiate the conversation is appreciated by both men and women alike.

For many guys, this way of starting conversations can be a lifesaver. The traditional way of men having to impress a girl rather than just having a normal chat has grown tedious for many of us.

As for women, many prefer the app because it allows them to deal with less demeaning and unwanted messages.

If you are a guy that`s looking for a Bumble hookup, it will thus be incredibly awkward for you to be straight forward about this.

The whole point of the app is for the woman to lead off the conversation. Thus, I highly advise against trying to steer conversations towards hooking up, unless the girl has shown interest in doing so herself.

A conversation might lead to the topic of meeting for a hookup. However, you will never be able to lead the chat in that direction without the girl already being on board with the idea.

Leading off and steering the conversation towards a hookup is easier when you can make the first move. Thus, If you are a girl looking for a Bumble hookup, things will be easier.

Still, this does not change the fact that most guys on the app are looking for something long-term. For this reason, I highly recommend using a different app.

5. You will annoy a lot of people

How forward we act is completely determined by what platform we are using.

For example, most people would not randomly walk up to someone in a store in the middle of the day and start spouting sexual comments.

However, when the internet gives us a barrier to hide behind, we tend to care less about what is okay to say and not say.

On some dating apps there is a culture for being straight forward when you match with someone. Some people love this, while some hate it. Regardless, it is accepted as normal by most people who have used these apps for a while.

While Bumble can seem like an app where this type of behaviour could be commonly accepted, it is not.

For many the app is a haven where they can try online dating for free while avoiding exactly this type of forwardness. If this is something they would of had to deal with on Bumble all the time, most people would not use the app at all.

Thus, if you aim for a Bumble hookup, chances are you will not succeed. Even if you do hook up with someone in the end, you will still have annoyed a lot of people in the process.

Conclusion

Is Bumble a hookup app? No. At least this is far from the main use of the app.

You will be better of choosing a different platform where users are less focused on the long-term over the short-term.

The numbers and culture on the app is going to be stacked against you if your goal is to hookup on Bumble. Because of this, I highly advise you to use Tinder instead if you are not looking for anything serious.

For the majority of us, who do not look like models, online dating can be challenging. If you are only looking to hookup, it is going to be even harder.

Thus, choose a platform that fits your goal, and avoid using Bumble for hooking up. This way you will save yourself a lot of time, and avoid causing frustration to yourself and others.
